Homemade Gelato

Everyone asks us "What is the difference between Gelato and ice cream?" One taste can answer that question. Unlike a thick, sweet premium ice cream, gelato is light and smooth. You won't feel the fat accumulating on your tongue like you do at a premium ice cream retailer. That's because gelato has quite a bit less fat (6 - 8%) than a premium ice cream (20%). We use only cane sugar and no High Fructose Corn Syrup. Because we make each flavor ourselves, we know what goes into our gelato, and can locally source fresh fruit from Scott's Orchard, Local farms and from vendors at the Green Street Market.

Our wonderful, home-made (or in-house-made) gelato is the Pièce de résistance after a great pizza dinner. It is made with care many times a week. Our gelato artist, Holly, blends comfort flavors as well as the "out of this world" combinations that folks come back for time and again. On any typical day at Sam & Greg's you will find our Vanilla, Chocolate, Spicy Hot Chocolate (with Cayenne pepper), Birthday Cake, and Mint Chip. Every now and then she adds some pizzazz with Lavender, Honey Ginger, Chai, Coconut, Peaches and Cream, Coffee, Strawberry, or any number of combinations.

Each Holiday brings its own unique flavors. You might see Green Goo at Halloween, Pumpkin Pie at Thanksgiving, or Sugarplum, Ginger and Peppermint Stick at Christmas
